About The Blog

The title for this blog "Adventurous Inquiry" comes from Herodotus' The Histories. We know that the original title in Greek would have translated to something closer to "Adventurous Inquiry." I blame a wonderful professor by the name of Dr. Clamurro almost entirely for making Herodotus's work my towel for traveling the universe. At least in the blanketed Western culture, Herodotus is one the main reason that we record events as they happen and/or as they are told to us. He was the first investigative journalist, so to speak. People tend to quote from Herodotus to the point that no one things of them as actual quotes anymore. These anecdotes have become part of our language.

I became interested in The Histories from one of Clamurro's seminar classes when we were discussing Travels with Herodotus by Ryzard Kapuscinski. I haven't traveled nearly as much as I thought I was going to in terms of physical space, but I have been moving ahead in my life since that semester. This blog is my personal space to explore where I am, where I am going, as well as the people and places I encounter along the way. My personal writings, essays, poems, artwork, photos, and any other media are likely to find their way on to this blog.
